Farmers Markets

The Kansas City area is home to many wonderful Farmer's Markets, including an increasing number of markets that focus on organic produce. Many of these markets also offer chef's demonstrations as well as children's crafts and activities. Some of the markets also sell soaps and lotions, jams and jellies, and other locally produced handicrafts. These markets can be a fun and educational outing for children of all ages!

•Farmer's Community Market at Brookside
The Farmers' Community Market at Brookside is dedicated to creating a unique partnership between the community and farmers that provides high quality, local, organic products in an atmosphere that is mutually beneficial and wholesome and fun.

The market features: locally-grown, certified organic and sustainable freshly picked vegetables, juicy sweet fruits, fragrant herbs, hormone and antibiotic-free, humanely-raised meats and free-range eggs, artisan breads and baked goods, freshly prepared foods, honey, hand-crafted soaps and body products, vegetable and flower plants, cut flowers, and high-quality handmade local crafts.

The market also hosts Chef Demonstrations, Kid's Activities, Live Music and Festivals, including an annual Tomato Festival every July.

•KC Organics and Naturals Organic Market
Kansas City's first exclusively 100% organic market is in its 15th year. Organic farmers offer organically grown produce, edible flowers, herbs, grains, breads and pies. They also have "fair trade" coffee, eco-products, crafts, music, and chef demonstrations which are not to be missed.

•Joe's Community Market

This open air market has become a gathering place for garden chat, recipe chat and catching up with neighborhood news while shopping for fresh picked produce, mushrooms, sea salts, vegetable seedlings, Amish jams, preserves, jalapeno jelly, pickled okra (and more!) and ornamental plants that support our local growers. We believe that a direct connection between grower and consumer is the lifeline of sustainable agriculture.

3601 E Red Bridge Road. On the grassy area in front of Terrace Lake Liquors., Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, opening Wednesday, April 18, Saturday, April 21 and Sunday April 22. Wednesday Market is 3:00 pm-7:00 pm, Saturday Market is 8:00 am-1:00 pm and Sunday Market is 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

•Downtown Overland Park Farmer's Market
This huge farmers market runs from April through October in Downtown Overland Park. Located at the Clock Tower Plaza, just 2 blocks West of Metcalf between 79th and 80th Streets--features fresh produce, herbs, arts and crafts from farmers and growers around the metro and surrounding areas. Saturday starting at 6:30 am and Wednesday starting at 7:30 am.

•City Market
The regions largest Farmer's Market is located within Kansas City's River Market neighborhood, which brings over one hundred and forty vendors that sell fresh fruits and vegetables, plants and herbs, plus a great array of fresh baked goods, cut flowers and crafts made by local artists. Saturday 6:30 am - 3:30 pm, and Sunday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.

•Parkville Farmer's Market
The Parkville Farmer's Market is located just South of the railroad tracks at English Landing Park in Historic downtown Parkville. This historic market features local farmers that primarily sell fresh produce, plants, and honey . From April to October Wednesday, 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. and Saturday, 6:00 a.m.-sellout.

•Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street
Local vendors offer fresh produce, baked goods, flowers and plants, and craft items in an open air market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 7:00 am 'til sell out from April to November. Located at 2nd & Douglas, Lee's Summit, Missouri

•Independence Farmer's Market
The Independence Farmer's Market is held Saturdays (May through October) 7:00 am until 1:00 pm, and Wednesdays, (June 7th through October 7th), 7:00 am until 1:00 pm. Located at Truman Road between Main & Liberty, the market also features a huge Craft market across the street at the Chamber of Commerce parking lot. Call (816) 254-4338 for further information.

•Zona Rosa Farmer's Market
The Zona Rosa Farmers Market is a premier market with only the best quality produce and products. Some available items include hand made natural soaps and lotions, bread and dip mixes, fresh produce direct from area farmers, herbs, plants, jams and jellies, soy candles and MORE!
