BMA Park and Playground List

Spring is here! Are you looking for a new place to play with your little ones? Check out these great parks in our area for a change of pace. Thank you to the Brookside Moms who contributed their favorites!

MISSOURI:

Arbor Villa: On Main at 66th St
Play Structure, swings, tennis courts, open area, sand areas, wading pool in the summer. Port-a-potty in the summer.

Arno Park: Ward Pkwy & 69th St
Play structures, swings, small open area, shade, basketball court, picnic tables

Brookside (Suicide Hill) Park: On Brookside Blvd at 56th St
Multiple play structures for big and little kids, swings, large open area, sand area, baseball diamond, tennis courts. No bathroom, but there is a port-a-potty during the summer.

Loose Park: Wornall and 51st
Tons of open space, huge playground with play structures and swings, tennis courts, sprayground in the summer, duck pond and fountains, rose garden, bathrooms.

South Oak Park: E. 83rd St and Oak St
Small neighborhood park with wonderful, clean playground with play structures appropriate for both big and little kids. A few picnic benches, some shade, and a "butterfly garden" filled with native flowering plants maintained by local neighbors.

KANSAS:

Antioch Park: 65th & Antioch
A play "town" and other play structures, lakes, walking trails, basketball and tennis courts, covered picnic areas, lots of open space, & restrooms

Deanna Rose: 135th & Switzer
Petting zoo, multiple playgrounds, picnic areas, restrooms, concession, open space

Franklin Park: Somerset and Roe
Lots of play structures, swings, huge soccer field and open areas, walking trail, lots of shade, picnic tables, port-a-potty bathrooms year round

Joe D Dennis Park: 50th & Rainbow in Westwood
Play structures, tennis courts, fountain

Peterson Park: 61st and Mission
Multiple play structures, swings, tennis courts, covered picnic area, sand area, small open area, Fairway swimming pool during the summer, bathroom

Porter Park: Tomahawk and Roe
Multiple play structures, covered picnic areas, sand box, open area/walking trail, baseball diamond

Shawnee Mission Park: 79th & Renner
Huge lake/boats on weekends, fun little beach - nice covered picnic shelters, great dog swimming area, walking trails, have started replacing their playgrounds with some newer, safer ones, restrooms
